John and Carol Lewis are area missionaries with the American Missionary Fellowship (formerly known as the American Sunday School Union). They must raise their support from churches and people interested in the ministry here. Everyone who works at Camp are volunteers. John and Carol were married in 1966 in Torrance California. They went to the mountains of Kentucky as Missionaries in 1967 with the Kentucky Mountain Mission. They have been with AMF since 1982. They were sent to the mountains of Nevada then in 1987 were sent to Nebraska to Camp Bethel, and the SW Nebraska area John and Carol have 4 children and 15 grandchildren. John and Carol, in addition to directing the camp, pastor a Sandhill church at Brownlee north of Thedford and conduct Kids Clubs and Bible Studies during the week.
